All amateur radio operators are invited to register as members of ARWatch. To join, simply register at the Amateur Radio Watch BBS.
When you register, be sure to use your Ham Radio Callsign as your user-name so the registration will go through.
Active participation is not required of any ARWatch member, but membership is a prerequisite for amateurs who would like to be active in some way. Only registered members can post or moderate in the various Watch BBS's, submit material for a Watch web-page, or submit a request for a new Watch.
An active Watch needs a regular source or sources of quality information, and an active amateur who will keep the information organized and up to date as possible. The job here is to place the essential data on the web page and the associated BBS for reference, and generally work to promote and maintain that Watch's integrity and utility.
ARWatch's mission is to enable amateur radio activists to serve as a Watchdog, looking over some aspect of the hobby, collecting, organizing and verifying information on thier Watch and making it available to the community. Sometimes this may be driven by the efforts of a single individual, under other circumstances it may be a group or community effort.
There are already a variety of established watches that could use this kind of attention, or perhaps you have an idea of your own for a new Watch. The WinLink-Watch is an active watch, and may serve as a rough model for setting up and maintaining another one. Some of the Watches are almost self-maintaining through the use of newsfeeds, while others require personal attention in order to function at all.
Any registered member can contribute to any of the Watches and we encourage members to do so. If you would like to become more involved and manage or oversee a Watch, even on a provisional basis, click the following link for the ARWatch Adoption Form.
